Local Venues

Want your band to come out to Tofino or Ucluelet, get in touch with us and we'll help you set it up.... usually at no cost, just to network and help keep the live music community out here fresh and friendly. Also, we may be able to rent you sound gear and back line. Email BallisticPig@gmail.com and let us know what sort of venue you're looking for.

Some venues;
In Tofino:

The Hatch: Formerly Jack's (Bar gig, no cover, small stage, usually just Thursdays 10-midnight).Mixer, FOH and some mics/cables/ stands on hand. http://tofinoresortandmarina.com/

The Tofino Legion: shows had been run almost exclusively by a single promoter for about a decade. In 2013 this has changed but it's still sort of complicated. They have good FOH sound gear but limited backline and monitors. Seems like the best way to contact them directly is through their Facebook Page (capacity about 200, ticketed shows, band takes the door with a split point, usually no guarantees)

The Clayoquot Sound Community Theatre: 70ish seat theatre with minimal sound system, great for more "cultural" shows, can be rented for events, small PA on location (you'll need your own liquor license and all that comes with it if you want to sell drinks) Their website is https://tofinotheatre.ca/

Jamie's Lounge: Tuesday nights Jamie's books smaller acts for a 2 hour gig starting at 9pm. Appropriate sound gear is provided and booking can be made to include accommodations. Payment is a modest guarantee, usually booked a few months in advance.  In the summer they tend to add Friday shows. Contact info at www.tofinoranforestinn.com

Whaler's On The Point Hostel: Completely acoustic shows usually on Friday nights at the HI hostel in Tofino. http://tofinohostel.com/

In Ucluelet:

Official's Sports Bar Does a show or 2 per month during the summer months (house owns basic PA, Saturdays mostly).Here's their Facebook Page

The Army, Navy, Air force Club holds shows with local and visiting bands and DJs quite regularly and the program is growing lately. Limited sound gear and lights is on hand. Band plays for the door, usually no guarantees. Email me about booking this venue

Black Rock Oceanfront Resort On Thursday nights there is light music in Black Rock's lounge. Appropriate for acoustic acts, these gigs are usually booked by local acts up to 6 months in advance. Black Rock also hosts a number of larger events throughout the year. www.blackrockresort.com/

Port Alberni:

In Port Alberni we've played at The Blue Marlin Inn, a fairly straight up bar gig with possible accommodations and no sound system to speak of. We've also played The Rainbow Room which is more of an event specific venue where you play for the door, great sound system and lights! Finally Char's Landing is a charming venue for acoustic acts.

Other Options There are also a number of cafes and restaurants that end up with shows here and there as well as a community hall and some conference type rooms that can be rented for shows. Also, depending on the time of year you are booking for events like The Pacific Rim Whale Festival (March), The Pacific Rim Arts Summer Festival (Early July), Canada Day, Otalith Music Festival (Late Augut), Ukee Days(Late July), etc. may be worth investigating

If you have a venue on Vancouver Island you'd like have added here or have more info about one that's already listed please send some the info to BallisticPig@gmail.com
